The chosen building for the thesis topic is the one of the main train stations in Dublin, Connolly Station. Connolly station is located on the north side of the River Liffey and to the north east of Dublin city centre, and is providing intercity and commuter services to the north, northwest and south of the country. The main building is running along Amiens Street, facing onto the junction of Talbot Street. The main passenger building stretches from the main station terminus building across to Sheriff Street. All 19th century structures within the railway station complex are protected structures according to the Dublin County Council Development plan.
